More About Ernest
Ernest is a brown bear who plays the fiddle, and known as “The Dude”, a late 1800s term for young men in the city who kept up with the latest fashions, and Ernest fits the bill! In fact, the term “Dude Ranch” first appeared in the early 1900s to describe Western Style vacation venues where men from the city would visit dressed in their finest. This is a subtle joke and abstract reference in the Vacation Hoedown, where Ernest performs the song “Nature”, complaining about the outdoors, all the while dressed to the nines in a black and white striped blazer, signature hat, and playing fiddle with a fly swatter Ernest is known for his dapper looks. He wears a derby and a red polka-dot bow-tie around his neck.

Behind the Bear
Ernest was voiced by Randy Sparks. In Vacation Hoedown and Christmas special he is voiced by Mike Weston.
